Tempted to feel sorry for yourself

This week I was tempted (did not succumb to it) to feel sorry for myself. Has that ever happened to you? We were bested this week by another firm on a deal we were working on and I was tempted . . . to feel sorry for myself.

While experiencing this temptation to think about this little loss we had, I saw a news article where our President got up from his chair in the oval office and went to Walter Reed Hospital to give the Purple Heart to a young Army soldier who lost a leg in battle. That young soldier’s life has been changed forever.

Needless to say, I felt ashamed for even allowing the temptation to feel sorry for myself to cross my mind. I just buttoned up my chin strap and got back in the game. We are a grateful nation who have lost many young men and women in service to our country. We are also a nation who needs a reality check every now and then on what is important and what is not. Today I gave myself that reality check over some little deal I was working on and came away realizing that it was just that. A little deal that means nothing compared to what is going on in that young soldiers life and the life of his family.

Being thankful is one of the cornerstones to a life of love, joy, peace and fulfillment. Pause today and put the failures aside and count the blessings in your life. You will be amazed at what being truly thankful feels like. KT

  1. I am truly thankful for every breath I take, every thing I see, everything I hear, everything I taste, everything I feel and a voice to say it with. Praise God!
