Have you ever met someone that seems to have it all and still cannot find happiness and joy in their life? I am talking about a person who is gainfully employed or owns their own business, has a great spouse, beautiful children, beautiful home, influence, beautiful lifestyle, living in health and people that look up to them and they simply cannot find joy in their life.

They are so caught in striving to live that they forget to live. I call it missing life

I am writing this blog post because there are three people on my heart today that fit this description. They should be fully engaged in life yet are seemingly bound by invisible arms that want to hold them down and steal from them the joy that is rightfully theirs.

I am a simple guy, but for me, I believe joy is choice, not a result of circumstance. We have this gentleman at our church who is about the same age as I am, and he is bound to a wheelchair. He is one of the greeters at the front doors, and I am humbled every time I shake his hand because somehow in his situation, he has found a way to be happy and full of joy. He is truly inspiring.

In the past four weeks, I know of several people that either lost their life or had it change instantly because of some event, news or accident that was out of their control. So, as I think about this subject, I think about what it would be like to be at the point of stepping into eternity and knowing in your heart that you are leaving this life with the music still in you.

If you are reading this blog post, make the decision to find joy, contentment, fulfillment and happiness in where you are today. If you cannot find it where you currently are, you will not find it where you think you are going. There is a common phrase that describes this, “wherever I go, there I am.” Decide to change the “am” part of that phase so that you can be like the apostle Paul when he said in Philippians 4:11 “for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” KT
