Doubletree

Doubletree is a hotel brand that we often sell and work with buyers and seller on.

I want to speak today of another doubletree and it is the story of the two trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden. One was called the tree of life and the other was called the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Reference to these two trees are found in Genesis 2: verses 8 &9

God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden. The location of the Garden has never been located but if you believe anything in the bible, it was the most spectacular place on the face of the earth. It was filled with beauty, vegetation and lavish gardens. This story takes us to the two trees God told Adam and Eve about. He said (in the scripture above) the only tree they could not eat from in all the garden was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adjacent to that tree was the tree of life which they could eat freely from. One tree represented good choices and the other tree represented bad choices.

What I want you to see today is that God placed these two trees in the “midst” or middle of the garden. You ask why were they in the middle? While I don’t know, it seems to me that those two trees represent our life today. There are good choices and bad choices we must walk around every day. God could have placed the bad tree in the corner, so they couldn’t see it and therefore would not be tempted to eat from it. Instead he knew that in our life today, we see temptation and bad choices many times each day and therefore it is a daily choice that we, like Adam and Eve must make.

Like in this story, we know there are choices that will forever change our life. I don’t need to spell them out because we all know what they are. I believe this old bible story is God’s way of telling us to be careful with our choices and that there are certain trees (choices) that we need to be on guard of.

So, the next time you drive by a Doubletree Hotel, you can think of this bible story that is all about the choices we make. KT
